The Tallest Trees in the World: Reaching for the Sky

Coast Redwoods hold the record at 115.9 meters (Hyperion). Giant Sequoias are the largest by volume. Douglas Firs reach 100 meters.

Mountain Ash (Eucalyptus regnans) reaches 99 meters — the tallest flowering plant. Sitka Spruce reaches 80 meters. Why do trees stop growing? Hydraulic limits — pumping water above 130 meters may be physically impossible.

Tallest tree ever recorded was an Australian Eucalyptus at 132 meters in 1872..
